Assistant Instructor Support our Ocean Science Explorers program in providing early and continued exposure to ocean science. Duties include:
- Assisting with hands-on science lessons for 3rd to 6th grade underserved youth
- Leading outdoor field experiences at the La Jolla tide pools
- Assit with lessons focused on intertidal invertebrate adaptations
Project Leader Watershed Avengers is a cornerstone of our Community Initiatives that generate curiosity through engaging the community in science and conservation activities that are relevant to their daily lives. Project Leaders provide expertise, management, and leadership to transform our canyons. Share and apply your knowledge of ecology, restoration, biology, and other science fields as you work with community members and help them connect to science and conservation.
Service Day Volunteer As a service day volunteer, you will be notified when we need help creating classroom materials in support of our programs or need to complete other important work (planting, painting, etc.) to help further Ocean Discovery's mission. We hold these events quarterly and on national holidays such as Martin Luther King Day and Presidents' Days.
STEM Speaker Individuals with a background in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics are needed to inspire and mentor underserved youth. STEM speakers share about their career and pathway, participate in learning activities in the classroom, field setting, or during Ocean Discovery Institute coordinated events.
